My current master bath has a 5' clawfoot tub in a 48"x80" opening with one large window to the exterior. There is a much better selection of drop-in whirlpools than traditional three wall tubs.

I am thinking through the process of tiling down to the tub surface of a drop-in but I am creating a potential problem without a tub flange to contain any water that penetrates through the grout.

Anyone have pictures, details or other tips for this?
