I could re-surface that ceiling for about $40 in materials in about three days time. Would look perfect. A really good drywall guy could do that in a day to a day and a half.

If you really want to make that room look sweet, you would need to very carefully chip off the first row of tiles all around, any tiles by the apron of the tub and slide the tub out. Then level the tub out, shove it back in and re-tile that bottom row and apron area. And yeah, there will be some drywall work needed to get that tub out. But that’s the cheap stuff to fix.

And you’ll need an alternate method of waterproofing the wall to tub line. Not that difficult to do. Many products make that possible today.
