If water beads up on it - sealer will too. The sealer you apply will not go into the stone like it should to work, so you'll just have sealer or sealer residue sitting on the surface of your tiles causing all kinds of trouble.
Sealers are not designed to prevent wear and tear, scuffing, scratching or acid etching. All it does is prevent liquids from being absorbed into the stone.
