I was able to price composite boards with and without grooves cut into the edges to allow for the clips to attach them at every joist.

Of course, the cost is much higher for the boards, and for the clips. They don't seem like much individually, but start counting up every intersection between deck board and joist and it adds up quickly.

In the end, I found it easier and cheaper to simply take a materials list to the local hardware store and they gave me the best price. This was for approximately $8G in materials.
