I’m sure this was asked before, but I could not find a clear answer.

I have a wall, part painted gypsum board, part cement board. I will be installing 8x8 and 12x24 tiles. I want to use unmodified Kerabond thinset as I have that already. Do I have to use modified thinset, or am I good with what I have?
