Adequate Subfloor

Good day, I’m relatively new to the forum but used to install a lot of tile in college. Anyhow, I’m in the process of a garage conversion. The new subfloor is 2x8s on 24” center but they only span 8 ft. The subfloor is two layers of OSB, 3/4 and 1/2”. Most of the room will be carpet but I’d like to do about 120 sf of tile from the garage door and into a little mud room area.

I know that I would have been better served to do the joists on 16” center but I wasn’t planning on tile and was just copying the rest of the house. Overall I’d say the floor feels fairly stiff. Will this support tile or should I just use a waterproof plank flooring?

If it can support tile would it be better to use Cement board or the sites schluter stuff? Thanks!
