in my experience any tile with 1 side over 15"...

in my experience any tile with 1 side over 15" requires an LFT mortar.
it says that right on some bags.
for that size tile i would be using a 1/2"x1/2"x1/2" notched trowel

also LFT thinset can be applied upto 3/4" thick which means a 12/x1/2"x1/2" trowel can easily be used.
a regular thinset applied with 1/2x1/2x1/2 trowel doesn't have the rigidity that the LFT has,...

yep...you want the water to absorb quickly into the slab.
a sealed slab has to have the "sealant" removed before tiling.
hopefully you will be lucky but if it were mine i would wait a week before...

dont worry if thats the case, they make a spacer flange which sits on top of the original ring, they are 1/4"...
