Lou-the top edge of the marble pan is 2" above the subfloor, it isn't 100% consistent either so that's an extra layer of fun to deal with. The shower area is 3'x9', the pan doesn't have a 1/4"...

A flat-nosed shovel can help a lot for pulling up the lath also-you can wedge it in about a blade length, pry up, and lift up a pretty sizable chunk of material.
