Ken, if you use acrylic caulk you'll be replacing it on a regular basis. It eventually breaks down when exposed to warm water. Silicone would last a very long time, but is a lot trickier to apply.

Outside the US large tiles on the shower floor are common, it's a major pain in the backside. It always takes me too much time to get the envelope cuts bang on.
