You'd need to have some old versions of ridgid vinal flooring for it to have a chance of having asbestos. If it is cermic I believe you're in the clear.

I'm going out on a limb here but I believe that answer is that the glass will sit on the rail and then the glass would be caulked to the tile. Thereby creating a seal, keeping out the water.
