Pretty neat episode last nite. The tile contractor installed 1" x 1" mosaics on bath floor. He grouted the floor, then instead of cleaning with sponge, he took dry ground and dusted the entire floor....

I believe most who tape during tiling simply put the tape over the joint, press it down, then thinset over it (while forcing a bit of thinset in gap), then set your tile.

So you dont see any cracks in grout or tile? There may be a one in a million chance that you have a nail head rubbing on steel or some other hard object. A few months a go I installed tile over 1/4"...

I would use a sawzall to cut the hole in the plywood, and hardibacker or whatever. Then I would run cut the granite to this opening, grout, set the sink, caulk, done!
