Hi,

I'm sure this is in the forum somewhere, but I'm not finding it.

Are 6" tiles usually a true 6" or is that nominal?

Grout size?

So 8" of riser space minus 5/8" for tile thickness, and minus 1 3/4" of lip. I think the 1 3/4 is including the 5/8 of tile thickness already though, yes? (SEE ATTACHED CAD)

Is this correct:...

Plumbers!!!!

So our plumbers are working away redoing all our pipes and they had some specific questions for the bathroom.

1. For an exposed vanity, is there a normal height for the trap and angles to be at? ...

Good to know.

I will get the backerboard hung up and see what we end up with.

Currently working on the window. I'll post some pics when it's in. Hopefully Friday.

Response to Layout ideas

Thank you for the input. I'm kind of stuck on most of these issues. The vanity is already here. We're going to put a hamper in the corner and then an ottoman below the window. I think if the room...

Wink More Moulding

Yeah, I was trying to just use something besides wood for that underlayer between the backerboard and the moulding. I've had good success with the plastic trim in an exterior location that I primed...

Cool Non-wood

Yeah, I'm trying to keep it idiot proof as far as water hurting the baseboards down the line. So wood wouldn't be my first choice. I've never ripped a plastic piece of fake lumber. Just mitered...

Red face Baseboards

The baseboards are not going to be tile. It's just moulding (plastic so it won't mold).

I think I can get the superstore to special order a few strips for me. 5 1/4"

It will basically match...

I'm also wondering about our grout. We're planning on doing 1/8 white sandless for the subway tile. But for the brick joint we were going to go darker (natural grey?)

The sizing on this isn't...

Cool Correct approach

Good thought about the door jamb. The rest of the room should be fine. I'll see how much room I have after we install the backer board I guess. Maybe I'll get something thin (do they make 1/8...

Question Baseboards on a Tile wall

So I'm planning on putting an extra 5 1/4" high layer of backer board around the bottom edge of the room that will match the thickness of the tile and thinset combined. Then I will mount the...

Smile Two sinks, or not two sinks...

Well, we looked at vanities with two sinks, but they were all a little big for the space. We probably could have done two pedestals, but neither of us really wanted that. The space under the window...

The tile is everything that is white in the sketch pictures. This also pretty much follows the "before" pics with the exception that the shower/tub will be tiled to the ceiling. (there's a...

Mrs. Jones has been in on every step so far. :)
