The fact that the membrane doesn't have to go over the lip of the drain to remove water is good. Water doesn't like to travel up. So if the base and pre slope are flush that's ok.

That's usually the only issue i find with the ramondi clips i use. Nothing a little tapping with a board and hammer didn't fix. The system in my opinion has way more benefits over the twist style...

Another vote for switching to a foam pan and kerdi. Or the usg system ect. Very easy to do if you follow the directions and you'll be certain of a leak free installation.

Yes it'll be fine. Supposed to unmodified or their proprietary thinset, but the general consensus here is that regular versa bond is minimally modified so it's ok.

Ultra color plus is the best grout they make. Things that help, mix with cold water, gives it a little extra open time. Mix in small batches so your spreading then washing before it sets up.
