It looks like the receptacle is spaced an inch from the front of the box. This is a code violation everywhere I'm sure. For a noncombustible surface the code is a 1/4 inch I think.

I used a system called Levolution today. My brother had them. It works pretty good. He would not tell me how much it cost but I bet it ain't cheap. Anyway it solved a lot if lippage trouble today.

The original 2x's will measure 2" the added ones will measure 1 1/2". Sistering them with 2 x 12's would work, but nailing them would have to be done with care assuring they are together properly....
