Most of the sunken tubs of that era were just tiled into the concrete slab. I did a lot of them that were just a hole in the slab when we got there. We would mud in the walls and the floor. I think...

Hi K, :)

Laticrete, one of our major sponsors, is just to the north of New Haven. Give them a call. I'll bet they know some setters in your area. :)

I was in the Army Engineers in France in the sixties and remember all the engines in the equipment we operated. Not a V-8 anywhere in site. :)

There HAVE to be a lot of good setters in a town the size of San Diego and surrounds. Strangely though, at present I don't know any of them. Hopefully we'll find one or two if we keep this thread...

I agree. In fact I never fail to ask a Ford dually owner why he needs 8 cylinders to pull his horse trailer when I can do it better with six. It's all about stroke with a diesel, the longer the...

Hi Mitch, :)

I don't recommend trying to put stone over the metal. It's very flexible and moves considerably when the fireplace is heated (or cooled). Typically with a zero-clearance fireplace the...

As I recall your old truck was a 3/4 ton? I know it wasn't a dually. I've got the same Cummins engine, but they had five additional years to dumb mine down. ;)

Yeah, the eco-diesel is a 3 liter...

I've got an '07 Dodge 1-ton, and I plan on keeping it as long as I'm around. I won't need a dually, but it's paid for. :)

Any of you seen the Dodge Eco-Diesels? I've talked to two guys who own and...

I have both the roof and ceiling well insulated in my house, and there are no ducts in the attic. I have gable vents on each end. I have no issues with moisture any time...

Hi Andrew,

There is a huge difference between honed and "polished." No one should ever try to achieve a high sheen by using a top finish over a honed floor.

So I don't really know exactly...

Hi Stuart, :)

There is no telling what's on the surface of your travertine. Try a paint stripper -- just a very small spot in an out-of-the-way place. If that works you could continue to strip the...

Hi Costa, :)

As CX mentioned your tiles have no glaze; they are solid porcelain that has been ground with fine grits to achieve the shine, so they're not really "polished." :) I would leave what...

Hi Kevin, :)

Break out the rest of old stuff and make your pour monolithic. Get some help when you pour, somebody who knows concrete. You can't leave any wood embedded. :)
