That and dress your blades every so often. Either use a piece of concrete block or buy a dressing stone. It does wonders to freshen up a blade.

If you don't want to remove the mud bed, remove all the tiles and rent a large grinder with a vac and dust shroud. Grind the area smooth again so it is ready for new tile.

Set the Kerdi board on top of the flange above...

Set the Kerdi board on top of the flange above it. Mask the tub edge. Fill the void with thinset. Apply Kerdi band over the "mudded" thinset area.

That install is crap! I am a builder and tiler and would be embarrassed of that. If a bull nose wasn't available then a Schluter edge should have been used.

It also could have been to dry of a mix or improper trowel. Which trowel did you use? The mix should be very loose. It should just hold the grooves from the trowel. Also did you sponge the wall first...

I have used the Mapei, Latasil, ColorMatch, and a few others. I prefer anything 100% silicone if it is a wet area or an area that won't ever need painting up against it. Seems to hold up a ton better.
