Are there any cracks in the floor at the moment? If so, use the membrane. Current cracks may translate through your tiling and split them as well.

I think that would work fine. The key is solid support behind the tile. You should use some sort of adhesive to bond the two 1/4s together but be careful of adding too much thickness in between or...

Labour pricing advice please

A friend is asking me to tile a proximally thousand square feet of flooring using 12 x 24 tiles in a pattern style and I am unsure as to what to charge him per square foot? Any advice?
