Just looked on Durock website. They state it is non-cobustible. I would imagine conductivity is low, i.e. take a long time for any heat to conduct thru the board.

Well, finished today, at least installing the tile. Lots of cuts, around a closet, a doorway and of course a HVAC register. Will grout it Sunday or Monday, no biggie.

Thanks CX, I feel it will last forever after all the thinking and work now that its done. Kitchen cabs about 60% installed, I'll do the finish work. Downhill from here.

Just found out that 3/8" thick plywood is 0.313" and 5/16 = 0.3125. Should be good for under cabinets and a couple of other spots me thinks.

Though I think CX indicated 3/8" isn't great stuff.

OK, I screwed down a good bit of the existing parquet/subfloor, surprisingly it went well. The screws bit into the oak, thru the subfloor and into the joist without pulling up the oak or otherwise...
