First, run your joist dimensions thru the deflectometer in the dark blue bar above to see if your are good for natural stone (or even ceramic tile).

The inside shower floor appears to have some negative pitch near the bench. If it is grouted, I'd pour some water on the floor and see if it drains properly.

The flange should be installed on top of your finished tile. Grind out slots in the tile before you set it to install the tapcons.

If the thinset is fully engaged with the fleece as it's supposed to be, then removing it (along with the tile) would remove the fleece and leave nothing but plastic for the base and that would scare...
