Nice work Jeff. Them are some serious pieces of porcelain and in my opinion mitering is the only way to go. It’s a classy look. I don’t think I have ever seen a fireplace that small though.

I would build it with mortar the same as a regular curb. Once you have your radiuses and curves figured out you can make some wooden jigs to help carve the mud.
