I use a roller unless it’s a 50 soft floor. Pressing in 2k sqft by hand is too much work.

Fine to wait until it’s installed. More importantly be sure to use a light colored grout matching the tile. Even sealed it would discolor the crackle lines if too far removed shade wise.

I wouldn’t use a rapid set mortar and I do a fair amount of panels. We use Customs Pro-Lite or Mega-Lite depending on what is available. If you haven’t yet you need to prime the back of the panels.

Don’t use the glue on drain for that application. Put in a plumbing flange made for PVC liners. Residential adapter drain flange doesn’t have the divot on the flange that comes with it.

If the edge was pitted they may have swiped clear polyester on it to fill. If it gets UV light it will yellow.
