Switch to a synthetic soap. These include the gel body wash kind. Dove liquid shower soap is also synthetic.

These synthetics do not promote mold growth.

Stay away from all those natural soaps...

I have used lexel for escutcheon plates. I like it because it is so clear. I ha e had to remove the plates and then use silicone as it was handy. I had no issues. But I did scrape it.
