The tar paper on the walls is to overlap the liner so that any water that hits the tar paper flows into the liner. Like roof shingles.

Re-ledger as needed, or properly support the tub then start with a not-whole tile along the top of the tub.

Hate to tell you this but the only way to properly fix this is to start over from the studs out. If the bench is this much of a disaster, the rest of the shower is too.

This has to do with the way light refracts inside glass tiles. because the cut edges are raw, the light is passing through. Use larger pieces (eliminate the skinnies)

Of the latest formulations, Flexcolor seems easier to use, but it usually comes down to a color choice.
