yep,,,so cal. not much of a slope. this is the 3rd one I've had done out here and they all look like this. I have an old school tile guy coming in to do the floor. He didn't have an issue with it....

I did the same tile floor myself (and the wall!) and spent quite awhile, carefully wiping and cleaning all of the lines and around the dots.
I believe your guy did not!
