I'm all done!

I'd like to thank everyone on this board. Although I lurked more than I participated, I learned a lot from everything here. Everything from the Liberry to the posts on what not to do helped me and,...

Tonto,

I learned that lesson from Scotty on Star Trek. If something was going to take an hour, he said it would take him a day. If something was going to take a day, he said it would take him a...

Thanks Bubba,

A dowel sharpened with a pencil sharpener? Yikes! I'm a DIYer so this process is already taking me four times as long as it takes you guys. I'll be ready to redo the kitchen by the...

How do I properly apply sealer?

I'm installing a tumbled travertine backsplash with 1/8" grout lines (the rounding of the tiles makes them look bigger) and a granite, ceramic, and glass mosaic inlay. The plan is to do two coats of...

Thanks Steve,

It's a small kitchen, so I guess I'll have to go with Option 2, going over 1.5" from the bottom of the upper cabinet and then down to the edge of the countertop.

I watch a lot of...

What do I do with the pencil?

As you can see from the first two pictures, the pencils at the end of the backspash start at the bottom of the upper cabinets, go down for a bit, and then make a turn to the edge of the countertops....

Thanks. We're really happy with the granite countertops. I know that quartz is all the rage nowadays, but it just looks too artificial to me.

I thought about putting tape on the mosaic, but I'm...

I've started installing the travertine backsplash and I've run into a problem. There's two rows of a glass tile mosaic some of which have a raised design (flower, fleur-de-lis, etc.) A little thinset...

Do you guys wash your tumbled travertine before installing?

I'm just a DIYer, so I'm not familiar with tiling best practices. That's why I come here to see what the pros do. There seems to be a lot of stone dust on my tumbled travertine tiles. Do you guys...

Can the sink cabinet support the granite?

I have frameless kitchen cabinets from Ikea. I've read a lot about whether or not Ikea cabinets or any frameless cabinets can support the weight of granite countertops. Just about everyone says that...

CX,

I guess my post was poorly worded. When I said my plan was to butt the end of the tile against the travertine pencil, I didn't mean that literally. I'm going to leave a space for grout.

Kevin,

I never thought of accessing it while the stove was moved. And that's why I come here. I can't believe that never crossed my mind. Ugh! If it was a snake... I'll, of course, have to remove...

Laticrete 255 = $$$ Is it worth it?

I'm a DIYer who needs to install about 60 sq. feet of backsplash in my kitchen. I'm using tumbled travertine, so my plan was to buy a 50 lb. bag of Laticrete 255. However, I can get a bag of modified...
