Yep Dan. You nailed it. The large tile has a DCOF rating less than 0.42. And the specifications say its not suitable for shower floors. (It is suitable for bathroom floors.)

I decided to butt the drain up against the wall so I wont need any tile on the shower floor opposite the drain. I spaced out using my wall tile.

The drain body is only 7/8" tall so I screwed 1/4"...

Schluter linear tray - plywood deck not level

I’m installing a linear tray with a linear drain.

The floor is off level by 7/16” across 54”. And it’s sloping in the wrong direction.

I’m going to cut the pvc stub a little shorter - 1/4” as you did.

Hold the pvc down for 3 minutes after glueing.

Lay down 20 pounds of tile scrap on the linear drain.
