Maybe try scrubbing it with baking soda? If it is actually etched, you won't get it out. It would have to be polished out, and that's not something a novice should attempt. :)

If the tile is not marble or slate you can use a mild acid to clean it. What kind of Schluter trim? If metal you can't use acid. I don't know what else to tell you.

I would rough up the exposed cultured marble with sand paper, use a tack cloth to remove all dust particles and hit it with thinset and tile. :)

We have never updated the book, but it's still very useful. The two main things that have been added are Kerdi-board and the foam floors. The Kerdi process is still the same.

It looks good to me. The foam floor must be absolutely level, though. There is not much slope to the drain. Check your subfloor for level.
