This may be the wrong thread to ask, but I have mold growing around the edges of my stand up shower....the house is only 5 years old, and I'm pretty good about keeping it clean. What can I use to kill the mold, and how can I prevent it from coming back? Thanks

I bet the wall cavity is super gnarly. You may want to drill from the backside of the wall and use a bore scope to assess the extent of the mold growth before deciding on a course of action.

Maybe your wall board is resting on the mud bed and is wicking moisture up the vertical surface.

Ryan, look in our whirl-famous Liberry under Mold and you'll find some mold killing information.

The only real way to prevent it coming back in your shower is keep the room dry. That requires a properly sized vent fan that is actually used sufficiently to the purpose. If you haven't got one in your bathroom, I recommend you install one. If you have got one, I recommend you change the On/Off switch for a time that will make the fan run for a half-hour or so after each shower.

My opinion; worth price charged.

Hi Ryan :)

Is this just mildew presenting itself on the perimeter caulk? :shades:

It's not uncommon that the soap & shampoo start to accumulate and/or the edges of the caulk start to loosen causing a cavity between the caulk and the tile giving the soaps a place to accumulate, then turn black with moisture and temperature.

Regarding the vent fan, it also helps to turn it on at least five minutes before showering to start air circulation in the room.
