Cleaning metal scraping

Hi all,
Just bought a house with thick, hard soap scum on the shower floor. If been using a metal scraper to remove it, but it’s leaving gray, metallic scrapes on the tile. What should I use to clean it...a baking soda paste or something else. TIA.

I’ve used a low scratch scouring powder like BonAmi or Barkeeper’s Friend.

Welcome to the forum, Diana.

Agreed. Bar Keepers Friend (only the powder, not the liquid gel) has worked every time for “metal marks” for me.

It only takes a few seconds of light rubbing to remove the marks.

Great - I’ve got some of that. Thanks to you both!

Next time you need to remove some soap scum, you can use a high alkaline cleaner like AquaMix Heavy-Duty Grout and Tile Cleaner. Most any box store that sells tile will have a high alkaline cleaner that will work.

You completely wet the surface, allow to dwell 5-7 minutes, scrub with a nylon bristle brush, then wet vac or rinse away the mess. Repeat as needed. And be sure to neutralize the pH level with a rinse of clean water when you’re done.

:)
