New Private forum for the Pro's

There's an announcement at the top of every forum, but I thought we might want a thread in here to discuss. We've finally done it!

This private forum isn't open yet, but you can apply. The plan is to open it up for posting tomorrow, to coincide with the first day of Coverings. We intended to announce a lot earlier, but life got in the way. :)

** Click here to apply **

All the moderators will be approving join requests. Don't be alarmed if it doesn't happen immediately for you. Thanks!

ded dux 04-17-2016 10:42 AM

Life has a way of doing that. Did we have a JBF attendee list? Haven't seen much coverings posts except Brads.

John Bridge 04-17-2016 03:14 PM

I do hope all pros will apply, and that includes every facet of the tile industry -- setters, contractors, sales people, manufacturers, rep, consultants -- everyone in the biz, but no one else. :)

Peerless Tile 04-17-2016 06:48 PM

Glad to see this came about....Hopefully a peaceful place to discuss the trowels and tribulations of our daily adventures among ourselves. Very glad indeed!!!

Autoplay 04-17-2016 08:36 PM

If accepted, will there be a secret internet handshake that will be taught/learned,so like minded peeps will know when to let it all hang out,and when to tuck it in?

jwmezzanotte 04-17-2016 09:38 PM

Cool

Now I get to see if Ima pro yet..:yipee:

davem 04-17-2016 09:47 PM

You must be John, you just got in. :)

davem 04-17-2016 10:03 PM

It's the 18th by three minutes. I twisted the key, so hopefully the forum is online. Time for bed. :)

dhagin 04-17-2016 10:37 PM

Looks like the key worked as it's up and runnin Dave. :)

Houston Remodeler 04-17-2016 11:14 PM

Are the political threads, mud box, and others be moved here ?

Kman 04-18-2016 03:23 AM

Separate forum, Paul. It's just a private room for the pros to discuss whatever they want, with few limitations. There should be some rules posted about it very soon.

I would say that the political discussions and such have their place in the mud box where non-pros can participate as well.

MNTileGuy 04-18-2016 05:53 PM

I just sent in my request.

To be frank, I wonder how much traffic it'll see with TG's so entrenched at this point. Time will tell, I guess.

jgleason 04-18-2016 06:03 PM

Hi Brad,
Just approved you. Yep, time will tell. It will be as active as the pros decide to make it. Have fun.

Eschbach 04-18-2016 06:10 PM

I thought I applied correctly.I must need further screening

jgleason 04-18-2016 06:33 PM

Hi Brian. I approved you too. Should just work.

Eschbach 04-18-2016 06:42 PM

thank you sir

You may are right, Brad, but the problem with TG's is the lack of civility. It's not at all uncommon to see discussions devolve in some not good ways.

pitterpat 04-23-2016 07:09 AM

I'd just like to get my questions answered in the Tile Forum / Advice Board; anytime I put a question on this one CX kicks it out because I don't do this full time anymore! Says I need to post it in the shallow end, I do and they aren't answered!!!

cx 04-23-2016 08:04 AM

Pat, CX has never suggested that you not post your questions in the Hangout because you don't do tile full time. The differentiation is in the subject matter; if it's a specific project with specific project questions, it belongs in the Advice forum, as has been explained before.

If you don't get what you feel are timely responses to your questions even after having bumped them to the top of the queue, it's most likely because none of our folks feel they have an appropriate answer. Not a whole lot we, or you, can do about that, eh? :)

tilemanct 04-24-2016 12:08 PM

I wonder if there will be amnesty for former members who have been outcast? Sure would like to see some of them back.

dhagin 04-24-2016 01:05 PM

Dave.

Any pro can apply. :)

Kman 04-24-2016 04:32 PM

There's no way we can get to 100% of the questions, occasionally one or two slips through the cracks, but I have no problem with someone sending me a PM to call my attention to their question when it's been missed.

Of course, that doesn't guarantee I know the answer. :)

That's like car dealers saying "All applications accepted"
Would be interesting if a few did come back,or just apply.

dhagin 04-25-2016 12:27 AM

Craig.

WTH are you on about this time?

Higher Standard Tile 04-25-2016 12:55 AM

He is probably waking up early to head to a 5 Guys Burgers job in Buffalo or Scranton, or Poughkeepsie .:tup1:

evan1968 04-25-2016 03:41 AM

Keep your shorts on there Dana,I'm not off on a rant.
The way you worded it as "Any pro can apply". Reminded me of car dealer ads when they say " All credit applications accepted ".
They will accept applications, they just won't approve everybody. Just struck me as funny.

Nope Isaac....on to Chipotle's and Qdoba's!

dhagin 04-25-2016 02:29 PM

Thanks Craig. Was hoping you weren't prone to paranoia or conspiracy theories and such. ;)

Karls tile Inc 04-25-2016 06:45 PM

Request sent.

jgleason 04-25-2016 07:25 PM

And you're approved Karl. :)

Karls tile Inc 04-25-2016 08:29 PM

Thanks

MAPEI - Technical Service 04-26-2016 02:05 PM

I sent a request last week, don't see that it's been approved yet.

dhagin 04-26-2016 02:30 PM

Hi Dan. Don't see any record of that, send again please. :)

And to all: Any moderator can approve and I know we're checking for requests very often. Just checked right now, and there are no pending applications waiting for approval. If you've applied and are not approved, please apply again. Hey, it's a new system and we're new at administering it so please bear with us. Thanks.

doitright 04-27-2016 04:03 PM

Hi Guys :)

Trying to join forum, and all I get is a response that it's not a public forum. Well dah! :D

dhagin 04-27-2016 04:30 PM

I don't see a request back here John. I think DaveM is gonna need to sort it out... might be a glitch or bug or something. :)

davem 04-27-2016 05:51 PM

Operator error is my guess. :stirpot:

John, you should be in there now.

davem 04-27-2016 05:52 PM

Dan, I never saw a request, sorry about that. I added you to the group. :)

Typical answer CX........I don't have time to trade words with you....I know what you've suggested.

davem 04-28-2016 02:51 PM
