You can barley tell that there is a field tile around that glass.

Levi the Tile Guy 03-09-2011 08:15 PM

do you have any close ups of that picture frame? Is that job grouted white, or is that thinset oozage in some of the glass joints?

Your pics in the craziest tile design thread are pretty sweet though!!! I really like the arched lid.

field tile is butt jointed and yeah we used custom's antique white color grout for everything including the glass

Levi the Tile Guy 03-09-2011 08:27 PM

Well over all I like the look...The glass on the bottom looks pretty clean, I'm not a fan of the glass in the picture frame...I can't see the grout all the way through it (could be the pic. that's why I asked if you have a close up) but to me it gives me the appearance of either crooked or inconsistent grout joints.

But hey, most of the time pics don't do the job justice...They either hide the flaws, or show flaws that aren't really there...

Good Job.

yeah to me that glass in the middle of the picture frame was alittle too much but the homeowner thought differently...what the hell....oh and we had to add a layer of 1/4'' hardi to all the glass areas since there was a huge thickness difference

Brian, very nice. Did you have any help on that one or was it a solo effort?

And how do you like working with the TLS?

ceramictec 03-11-2011 07:33 PM

I always have help. and the TLS is a dream.

tileman2000 03-11-2011 09:09 PM

Well I can get help for jobs if I need to, but no steady employees.

Anyway, really nice work as usual.

Brian- Nice use of the Laticrete pencil. Tile work doesn't look half bad either. :clap1:

Brian, interesting pattern for placing the TLS system. Any comments on it?

no, the homeowner selected some tile from Lowes. it was ok, had a slight variation in size, that's why the wider then normal grout joint on the floor.
