Have you ever seen this? If so, what is it?

Troubleshooting this for a customer. This was installed about 2 years ago (by someone else) on a concrete slab. Tiles are reportedly 1'' thick marble. This oily, salty feeling substance is working it's way up through the grout in 2 spots. They clean it up and it's back in 10-14 days. I haven't visited the jobsite yet...have you ever seen/diagnosed a problem like this before? Thanks...

could be a form of efflorescence but it good also be something else. I would remove a tile and examine the setting bed. Check for moisture, etc

The grout in those areas appears damp. Check to see if when you put that formation in water if it dissolves.
