Grout issue
Finished the grout job over the weekend.

Looks pretty good for a novice.

Yesterday I noticed a variation in the grout.

Upon a close look it looks like some of the old wax from the toilet got into the grout upon spreading.

It is just half the width of the grout line and about 1/2 inch long, not large but right in the middle of the floor and darker than the rest of the grout. It is also very soft because of the wax.

Is the only way to fix it to remove an inch or two of the grout and put a little new grout down?

Am I better off just leaving it?

Any thoughts on this? I'm inclined to remove a bit and replace the grout. It would drive me nuts if I didnt try something.

You have been helpful so far, any thoughts on this?

Dave --

If it is wax in there, you should indeed get it out. Dig out that bit of grout and replace it. Try to mix the new grout to the same consistency as the original to improve the chances of getting a good color match.
