need advice on how to build shower pan on slab

Hello,
I’m renovating my bathroom and need some advice on how to build the shower pan. I plan on pulling out the sheetrock and replacing it with durock to the ceiling. The top of the drain is 4 inches higher than the bathroom floor will be with new tile. My main question is how to build the shower pan and curb? I’m also putting a bench in the shower to the left, does that happen before or after I install the pan?

Any advice on how to do this would be great. I’ve done lots of tile work before just never built a shower pan.

You sure about that part?

First stop should be a visit to the Shower Construction thread in our Liberry to see how a traditional shower pan is made. The basics are the same with a concrete floor, only the pre-slope differs a bit.

Several options on your installation once that first question above is clarified.

My opinion; worth price charged.

Choose your waterproofing method first before you do or buy anything. The steps are quite different for a traditionally built shower with a PVC liner and CBU walls vs. a surface-applied membrane. Sometimes the two are mixed a little, but the method you choose will affect your planning and purchase of materials.

Are you wanting a curbless shower?
