Greetings ALL!

I am in the potential process of relocation from New England (USA) to the Yucca Valley Area of California (USA).

The goal is to build the most energy efficient house possible, sell off the Massachusetts home and relocate to a climate more suitable for old bones.

My current stumbiling block is now to decide on what type of slab/foundation/footings that I should use for the area and what would be involved.

I have vendors for the high R shell, and also heating and cooling, that are extremely Enviro Friendly, and cost effective, now I need to make sure all of this is on a firm footing, and is easy to repair, and uses best practices for the Yucca Valley area.

Any advice appreciated!

Boy Yucca valley sure gets warm.... Running an airconditioner 24/7
might get a bit pricey. Typical foundations in southern cali are slab concrete
unless you decide to put a basement in. I live in murrieta which is
inland from the coast about 30 miles and it was 109 % just last week.
I imagine it was 115% out in yucca. good luck.

Typical Slab?
Is this a cost saving factor or because of the potential Earth Quake damage?

I would love to have a foundation like I do here.

The high-tech building materials will have an R Rating of R25 rather than the standard stickbuilt R14. a/c running flat out hopefully will not happen.

It hit 97 here a couple days in a row here in Massachusetts, and our a/c here ran flat out.

Thanks ALL for the input.
