HELP: Clean grout off ceramic after grouting
1 Attachment(s)
Just grouted 2 days ago. Can't get the grout off the tile. It is terrible. I thought I was cleaning often enough as we went along. Is there anything that can be done to get the grout off the tile? I tried vinegar and water mixture, but no luck.

No expert here, but ran into same problem myself. I used Sulfamic Acid -found at Home Depot if I remember correctly. Comes with lots of warnings, but it went pretty easily. I think I had to wet the floor with a mop first and make sure it stayed wet. The acid came in powder form. You need to mix it pretty weak. Hopefully some of the experts on here can give you the ratio-or you may be able to look through my old posts and find out. Someone on here suggested it to me after all... After that I just used a plastic scrub brush and went at it. Worked like a charm. I think the only thing you have to fear is eating away your grout, but it turned out excellent for me. Good Luck

Hi xgdfalcon, Welcome! :)

Could you share a first name with us? :shades:

Brink has offered an excellent solution for your next step. Note: Very important to prewet the surface. As far as the dilution ratio, follow the label directions.

Thank you. I'll try the Sulfamic Acid. First, I've tried to clean as much as possible without using chemicals, think I'm ready to try the acid today (guess I shouldn't wait to long).

Thank you for your help. These forums have been a great resource.

Hi Larry :)

Don't hesitate to have a razor scraper handy to remove the excess grout off first (if needed). Acid will only remove so much at a time.
