Durock Fasteners
I've been lurking here since I read John's book and have searched the forums before asking this question.......installing about 800sq feet of 1/2" durock this weekend and would like to nail it rather than screw it. Can I use these as fasteners:
STANLEY-BOSTITCH 1-1/2" Pneumatic Coil Roofing Nails If not can someone suggest something else I can use and shoot out of a bostitch roof nailer? My lumber yard suggested I use the above nails. You can see the specs by searching on the Lowes website by pasting in " 1-1/2" Pneumatic Coil Roofing Nails"....I tried to post the url but that's not allowed  Any help is appreciated. |
From the Durock installation guide:

Don't forget to use pooky, and tape your seams. http://www.usg.com/USG_Marketing_Con...tion_Guide.pdf |

Pooky?
I'm afraid to search on that key word.... Seriously, enlighten me..... |
Welcome, John. :)
Maybe if you give us a hint where you will be installing this CBU the issue of correct pookey would become more clear. Or, knowing Royce, maybe not. But wherever you decide to pewt the stuff, you either need to use the manufacturer's approved fasteners or take your chances on your own choice. If you contact the manufacturer and tell them what you have in mind, they might sanction it. Phone call's cheap. My opinion; worth price charged. |
Just a term for us guys...."Pooky" is thinset.

Maybe over kill, but I only use 2" HD Galvanized screws on Durock...6" on edge and 8" in field. => Solid.
