View Full Version : Tile over plaster?

Hello Everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster. Our blueboard/plaster crew has finished the upstairs of our addition. They unfortunately troweled plaster about 6-8 inches past the start of the CBU in the shower. I asked them how to remove the plaster and they said that its necessary to blend the transition. Just add tile over it. Is this OK? Seems wrong to me. If the plaster has to go, do you know any easy ways to remove this? Just water and a wire brush?

Also wanted to offer a great thanks to everyone responsible for this bulletin board. You have a great community here IMHO. Many thanks to all of the pro's that take the time to help out weekend hackers like myself.

Thanks in advance.

PS I love this guy: :bang:

I'm assuming you mean the texture when you say "plaster" This is really only a problem if it gets wet. If you need to remove it, just soak it with a wet sponge and use a scraper.

This works for popcorn ceiling ; should work here as well

I don't think it will be a big issue as long as it stays dry.
