What's up fellas!

I'm new to this forum, but not to tiling!

My mentor (40 years of bath tile - 0 advertisements - he's good!) taught me how to install a wetbed, but something always bothered me about the installation of the membrane...

It seems that no matter how good I fold and tuck the membrane, the Hardie/Cement board always flares out a slight bit at the bottom! Is there a way to prevent this from happening without chipping out the framing a little bit?

Thanks in advance!

First, chiseling the framing a little is acceptable. Second, you could shim the rest of the studs above the liner, but that may cause issues if the walls continue on past the edge of the shower area.

notching the studs is pretty SOP to solve that problem.

btw, just curious - does your mentor lay the liner flat on the floor then mud over it for the slope?

Pre-slope then membrane then wetbed...
