I am using a slate tile cut to simulate a brick-like appearance. The rectangles are set in staggered rows with randomly placed 3" by 2", 4", 6" and 8" tiles. This is for a bathroom project.

I would like to use grout lines wider than normal for a "mortar between the bricks" like appearance. The best bet would be sanded grout I am assuming, but does anyone have any other advice for addatives, the best brand or even a good spacer to use?

Thanks

depending on your grout joint size, most sanded grouts will work and already have addatives in them.

for larger joints then 1/2" try looking into Custom Building Products Saltillo Grout. it comes in about 5 colors and is made to be used with wide joints.

I don't use spacer to set floors, but I'm sure you can find some at a local tile shop that are good.
