I have searched and contacted Custom on using Redgard with Hardibacker, but I am not feeling confident.

I primed cleaned the hardibacker then primed with Redgard (4:1). After the primer was dry I troweled the first coat. I niched an area by accident, and the Redgard peeled very easily. Custom says no problem, reprime and coat that area before doing the second coat. Do I have a problem?

I don't know how you have a problem with it peeling.
maybe you haven't let it dry, if you primed it and did 2 coats I don't see how.

I do a bunch of ReGard on Hardi and Fiberock and they go just fine.

Thanks for the reply.

I had a run which I niched by accident (hit it with a tool). When this happen it peeled at the niche. It peeled to the original hardi. I have not done the second coat.

Matt,

Its ok. Redgard is a membrane. I had to peel off a strip when I was doing my window moulding. Long story but its can peel. No biggie.
