View Full Version : leveling uneven tiles after install

I didn't realize it at the time, but as i was installing my travertine tiles, the thinset was getting real thick toward the bottom of the bucket, and then i mixed a new bucket, which, of course was thinner, and thus caused the tiles to sit lower.

There's now a definite difference in height between tiles laid with the first bucket of thinset and the second bucket of thinset, and it's kind of a tripping hazard. I'm not sure why i didn't notice it at the time, but the damage is done now :bang: (might have had to do with the fact that it was 2 AM)

I remember reading somewhere that in Europe, installers don't worry about height discrepancies between tiles, they simply grind them down after install.

Does anyone know what the technique is for this method?

It's not something you can do, you'll need a fabricator or stone restoration company with the proper equipment.:)

Unless you have this equipment.:)
