I an putting marble on wall aroud tub/shower surround. I put shims then hardibacker and of course the top and sides do not line up flush with the existing wall (greenborad in rest of bathroom). I want to tile to end of hardi then cover the edge with a marble ogee. The ogee would sit on the greenboard.

should I fill (thinset) and tape the space between hardi and wall? or could I leave the space as is and simply attach the ogee to the wall and caulk the edge that touches the marble?

Any other suggestion welcome

thanks in advance

Hi Frank

If the Ogee is thick enough you can place the thicker side towards
the tile walls, adhered right to the sheetrock with thinset. If not you
can stiffen up your thinset and build them out a little. You will get
a larger grout joint but usually doesnt look to bad. If the joint is a 1/2"
or more ill rip skinny strips to fill in behind.
