Can a "do-it-yourself-er" cut drywall edges to prepare them for bullnose beading? If so what tool do I use? Is it a 3/4 radius cut on corners?

It is possible,. A sharp utility knife, drywall saw, rotozip, etc will do the job.

The plastic bullnose should cover any of the edge imperfections associated with the trimming. Apply the bullnose with adhesive, drywall screws, or staples and then apply the joint compound and texture.
