View Full Version : bleached colored grout

I grouted my shower tile with a light tan sanded grout. We
had some cleaner that was used on the previous tile with white
grout. Now the lower 1/3 of the grout is almost whiteand I am sick.
I rubbed my fingernails over the grout and it looks like it is just
a surface condition as the grout darkened.I was thinking of
using a toothbrush and cleanser to see if the color can be
restored ,then resealing the grout. Any suggestions? The tile cleaner that did the damage Is "Tile Works"with warning not to be used on colored grout.

Hi Bob, Welcome. :)

It could be that only the surface area is bleached. The stiff brush is not a bad idea. Use white vinegar along with it. Vinegar is a light acid and will remove the very top layer of grout. Might be your answer. If not, come back. We have some stronger stuff. ;)
