I will be installing tile for my first tub surround and plan to put in a niche. I have a limited number of bullnose tile for the tile I am using and plan to use them for the outer edges of the surround. My question is - Is it required or necessary to use bullnose around a niche or can the edges/corners be filled with grout for a decent look. Thanks for any help.

No unfortunatley I cannot get more. I may try to find a complimentary color for the niche.

I may try to find a complimentary color for the niche. that's what I'd do. In fact, mine was a little like that. the top half of my shower was a lighter shade than the bottom, and I extended the niche into the dark tile using the light tlle.

Here's a niche we have in the Alumni Album, made by DIYMAN (Bob).

No bullnose here Jim. :shake:

Both of those examples look great, I think we have found a solution. We have found some smaller 2 inch mosaics that the color and texture carry through and down the sides of the tile. I think we can use these for the niche and it will look just fine.

Thanks for everyones help. I may post pics when finished. This is not a huge job nor a fancy tub surround, but it is my first attempt.
