I am covering my basement floor with Platon (dimpled plastic membrane) followed by 3/4" T&G plywood. I am fastening the subfloor with Tapcon screws in a 24" grid. The subfloor is very evenly supported and feels solid when I jump on it. The manufacturer says that ceramic tile can go down on the 3/4" subfloor. I plan to tile a small (about 45 sq. ft.) L-shaped entryway and would like to keep it at the same height as the adjacent carpet. Given that there are no joists underneath to worry about, does the 3/4" subfloor seem sufficient for ceramic tile? Thanks in advance!
