View Full Version : Unsanded grout

I've bought several bags of the same grout at the same store. I'm working on a bathroom and have already done the counter and backsplash and I am now working on the tub surround. I accidently bought the unsanded grout (which was in the same place I had previously purchased the sanded) and grouted part of the tub surround with it. I knew something was different while I was mixing it, I just thought I had it a little more wet. I have 3/8" grout lines. Should I remove all of the unsanded and use the sanded grout?

Hi Paul, 3/8" is an extremely wide line for unsanded grout. Did you just do this or has the grout already put in had a chance to dry?
More than likely, the unsanded grout is going to crack along the tile or right down the middle. It will also probably shrink.
I'd redo it with sanded.
