I have torn out a poorly done ceramic tile entry way and need to remove the old dried thinset. Is there an easy way to do this other than chisleing it out? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What's it stuck to? Wood? Concrete?

Hi Bob, Welcome aboard.

While you're waiting for Bud to return, I have a De Walt roto-hammer that converts to a miniature jackhammer. It takes a 1-1/2 in. blade.

You can use a flat mason's chisel and hammer to take the high spots off and then go right over it with new thin set.

I am actually replacing the tile entrance and carpet with laminate flooring.

Okay, try a chisel. Sometimes the thin set comes up easily. Otherwise, you'll need something with a motor.

If you can stand a little height, you might consider a self-leveling cement over the top.
