Is there a "rule of thumb" for when you should use a latex additive with a sanded grout?

Most sanded grouts already have the latex added. What brand grout are you using?

I'm pretty sure that has latex in it already.

Yep...here's the link. It's a modified grout that requires only water to mix

Thanks, Jason. You answered that one so well for me, I'll ask one more. I'm laying 12x12x3/8 porcelin tile on backerboard over 3/4 plywood floor. Is there a rule of thumb for when you should back-butter? The tile does have fine ridges on the back. I've gotten the impression that porcelin of 12x12 or bigger should be back-buttered.

I've been backbuttering all of my 12" porcelain. As a minimum put a skim coat of thinset on the back. Some of the porcelains seem to be so dense that they will not allow the thinset to bond.

Thanks, again, Jason. I think I'm ready. :)
